A longing you can hear
There is a word in Portuguese with no English translation. Saudade is the ache of missing something you love: a person, a place, a time that won't come back. Brazilians say you can't explain it. You can only feel it.
For one afternoon, Eduardo Minozzi Costa turns that feeling into music. One classical guitar, no microphones, no backing tracks: just the instrument's natural voice in a quiet room, close enough to hear every breath of the strings.
The program travels from the elegance of Baroque Europe, the music that shaped his training at the University of São Paulo and the University of Arizona, to the Brazil he grew up in, where the guitar sings, dances, and weeps in the same phrase.
- Solo guitarOne musician, one classical guitar, played unamplified.
- 60 to 75 minutesTwo halves with a short intermission.
- Europe to BrazilHandel and Scarlatti to Gismonti and Marco Pereira.
“A consummate artist on the guitar.”
